First Baptist Church is in its second century of Christian ministry in the South Bend Area. Established in 1836, the congregation carries on effective and diverse ministries in the name of Jesus Christ, and continues to honor the distinctive American Baptist tradition of local church autonomy, freedom of conscience, the equality of all believers before God in calling and vocation. First Baptist of South Bend is an inclusive congregation which affirms the ministries of all the people of God under one household of faith. We are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches in the USA.

The church is located at the top of the hill at Ironwood Drive and Ridgedale Road (approximately one mile north of the St. Joseph Valley Parkway / US 20) on the southeast side of South Bend. (Map)
